2018 Porsche GT2 RS: Sold and Heading to a New Home


We see a wide range of vehicles come through AutoBidMaster, but from time to time, something lands on the auction block that makes the whole team stop for a second. That was the case with Lot #56182905, a 2018 Porsche 911 GT2 RS that recently found its new owner.

If you follow performance cars, you already know the GT2 RS isn’t your average 911. It’s one of the most serious machines Porsche has ever built, and even in rough condition, it carries a presence that’s hard to ignore.

What Made This One Stand Out

This particular GT2 RS arrived finished in red and showing only 6,197 miles. For a car in this category, that mileage is practically a warm-up lap. It came with front and rear damage, sure — but anyone familiar with rebuild projects knows that mileage and model matter just as much as condition.

And with a car like this, the “bones” of the build are what buyers look for. Even in salvage form, the potential was obvious.

Why It Drew So Much Attention

A GT2 RS doesn’t enter the salvage market very often, especially one with mileage this low. The combination of rarity, performance pedigree, and room for a meaningful restoration made it one of the more interesting listings we’ve had recently.

Throughout the auction period, it gathered steady views, questions, and watchlist adds. Members were clearly evaluating whether they wanted to take on a project of this scale — and several bidders stepped up when the time came.

That’s one of the things I always tell our newcomers: yes, the damage is important, but so is the opportunity. When a high-end performance car enters the salvage world, that’s your chance to get in at a far lower cost than the clean-title market would ever allow.

A Strong Buy for the Right Builder

With the auction complete, the GT2 RS is now on its way to its new owner. Whoever picked it up made a smart move, because cars like this still have a long life ahead of them when handled by the right builder.

There are a few directions a buyer could go with it:

  • Full restoration: Bring it back to its factory glory — a long process, but absolutely worth it.
  • Track-focused build: Strip it down, strengthen what needs strengthening, and unleash what the GT2 RS was truly made for.
  • Collector’s project: Some owners restore these cars for future appreciation, especially given how rare they already are.

Whichever route the new owner chooses, this Porsche still has plenty of performance left in its story.
