The Porsche Cayenne Electric has gained a new S variant with up to 657bhp.
Priced from £99,900, it is sandwiched between the base Cayenne Electric and the 1140bhp Turbo model.
The S packs a dual-motor powertrain that can send 536bhp through all four wheels in normal operation or up to 657bhp for short ‘overboost’ periods. As with the Turbo, the S’s rear motor is oil-cooled to provide more consistent performance for fast road and track driving.
As such, the S can complete the 0-62mph dash in 3.8sec and go on to a top speed of 155mph.
It is also the rangiest version of the Cayenne Electric, with its 113kWh battery allowing it to drive for up to 405 miles between charges. It can be recharged at up to 400kW, giving a 10-80% refill time of 16 minutes.
Visually it is distinguished from other derivatives of the Cayenne Electric by 20in aloy wheels and silver cladding around its front and rear bumpers.
The S can also be optioned with several extras that were previously exclusive to the Turbo, including torque-vectoring, active suspension and ceramic brakes.
Porsche will also offer a Sport Chrono pack, adding a push-to-pass function that delivers an extra 121bhp for 10sec at a time, as well as a track mode that preconditions the battery to limit performance reductions under high repeated loads.
