For the second year in a row, AutoBidMaster is proud to serve as the official Power Sponsor of the Grassroots Motorsports $2000 Challenge, one of the most beloved motorsports events in the country. The 2026 edition takes place April 18–19 at Gainesville Raceway in Gainesville, Florida, and it’s already shaping up to be a weekend to remember.
What the $2000 Challenge Is All About
The concept is simple: build a race-worthy car for under $2,000 and go head-to-head against other builders in autocross and drag racing.
Competitors are judged across multiple disciplines, from autocross to concours-style car show, so the best all-around build, not just the fastest one, takes the crown.
The event is hosted by Grassroots Motorsports, a publication that has covered real-world automotive enthusiasm for decades. Their community brings exactly the kind of passion we’re proud to support.
Who Can Enter?
The challenge is open to anyone ready to build and compete. If you’ve put together a car for $2,000 or less, you’re eligible for the full competition. Gone over budget? No problem — over-budget entries can compete alongside budget builds.
Not planning to race? You can come as a spectator and check out the builds up close. There’s something here for every level of car enthusiast.
New for 2026: No course work is required during autocross. Hired staff will handle cone duty so competitors can stay focused on driving.
