This unique iPhone 17 Pro selfie case transforms how you take photos — it even has a MicroSD slot

I tested over 50 iPhone 17 Pro cases, but the Selfix isn’t like any of those; billed as a selfie case, you get a 1.6-inch OLED display at the back, and this allows you to take selfies using the rear cameras. It is interesting enough that I had to test it out, and having used the case for the better part of a month now, it is legitimately great.

The case is being crowdsourced right now, and you can get your hands on it for as low as $79, which isn’t costlier than regular cases. You can get the case with the iPhone 17 Pro or Pro Max variants, and as I have the Pro model, that’s the one I’m using. The case is backed by Dockcase, which regularly uses Kickstarter to launch its products.

Anyway, the case is bulkier than most iPhone 17 Pro cases I tested, and that’s understandable considering it adds a second screen to the phone. What I like the most is the ease of use; you don’t have to install an additional app to use the case — it uses USB-C to mirror the output to the rear display.

The best part about the Selfix case is that it doesn’t block MagSafe; because of the circular design and a ring that encircles the display, you can continue to use MagSafe accessories even with the case installed.

The case even gets a touchscreen, giving you the ability to access the iPhone 17 Pro’s camera controls from the rear. Another interesting addition is a MicroSD slot, and you can slot in up to a 2TB MicroSD card and easily move data from the internal storage of the iPhone 17 Pro to the case. While the MicroSD standard isn’t quite as fast as external SSDs, it is a good solution if you just want to free up storage on the iPhone.

As the case connects to your iPhone’s USB-C port, you’ll need to use the dedicated USB-C port on the case to charge your iPhone with passthrough charging. I used a 65W USB PD charger and didn’t run into any issues, and I’d suggest using at least a 45W charger with the case.

The case switches off after five minutes of idling to save battery, and there’s a dedicated button on the side that lets you turn it on again.

On the whole, I really like the idea of the Selfix case; the ability to take selfies with the rear camera gives the case a unique advantage, and that’s not counting the ability to extend storage of your iPhone 17 Pro. With ten days to go for the crowdfunding, now is the best time to get your hands on the Selfix case if you’re interested in what it has to offer.
