Apple’s latest release in its long-running “Shot on iPhone” campaign is here, and this time it stars UK rapper and musician Stormzy in a cool new short film called Big Man. Watch it below, alongside an interesting behind-the-scenes video.
Directed by Aneil Karia, Big Man was shot entirely on iPhone 16 Pro and tells the fictional story of Tenzman, “a world-weary musician, and the two bright, joyful kids who come into his life by chance. Soon the trio find themselves on a journey together — one that will reveal a better way forward for them all.”
The video is about 20 minutes long, and it continues the company’s recent trend of using Shot on iPhone not just for product showcases, but for more narrative-driven, cinematic projects.
Behind the scenes
Alongside the short film, Apple also released a behind-the-scenes video showing how the team brought Big Man to life using the iPhone 16 Pro. The featurette highlights the combination of portability and image quality that Apple pitches to both amateur and professional filmmakers alike.
Here is director Aneil Karia on the filming process:
“I’ve never shot an entire piece of narrative filmmaking on an iPhone before. It’s been a really interesting, invigorating process. It’s much smaller than the cameras when you’re making television or film or music videos. And so that lightness and flexibility that comes with that is boundless, in a sense.”
In the video, the director also discusses his use of Cinematic mode, 4K 120 fps slow motion and the ability to shoot in Apple Log.
