iOS 18.6 now available for iPhone, here’s what’s new

iOS 18.6 is now available for iPhone users. While the iOS 26 beta has stolen the headlines, Apple has also quietly been testing iOS 18.6 for the last six weeks. Here’s what’s new.

Update to iOS 18.6 now

You can update your iPhone to iOS 18.6 now by going to the Settings app, choosing General, then choosing Software Update. If you don’t see the update right away, keep checking over the next several hours as it might take a while to roll out to all iPhone users. The build number for today’s update is 22G86.

As for what’s new in iOS 18.6, here are Apple’s release notes:

This update provides important bug fixes and security updates, and fixes an issue in Photos that could prevent memory movies from being shared.

Other than what’s mentioned in Apple’s official release notes, iOS 18.6 also includes more changes to the App Store experience for users in the European Union. According to Apple’s website:

  • iOS 18.6 and iPadOS 18.6 provide an updated user experience in the EU for installing an alternative app marketplace from a developer’s website.
  • iOS 18.6 and iPadOS 18.6 provide an updated user experience in the EU for installing an app from a developer’s website.

Apple will likely publish more details about the security updates included in iOS 18.6 on its website later today. Spot anything else new in iOS 18.6 or iPadOS 18.6? Let us know down in the comments.
