Amazon just chopped 20% OFF the price of our favorite color Kindle e-reader – but you better act fast

Getting a good deal on an e-reader can be a tricky business, so it’s worth keeping your eyes peeled whenever Amazon is running a sale. Today, for instance, buyers can get 20% off the Amazon Kindle Colorsoft, representing $50 in savings on our favorite color e-reader on the market.

This particular deal for the Kindle Colorsoft is for the version without lockscreen ads. Despite being a color edition, it still feels like a high-contrast paper reading experience, not unlike some of the best E ink tablets, while still coming with 16GB of storage. It also has multiple contrast modes for reading, so you have some room to adjust the page displays to your liking.

✅Recommended if: you want the best color Kindle available, offering access to several page customization options and reading modes; you’d prefer an e-reader that offers a long-lasting battery without sacrificing bright, high-contrast page displays; you want something with a screen of around 7 inches that can be used in a wide range of indoor and outdoor lighting conditions.

❌Skip this deal if: you don’t care about having a color display and you’d rather save an extra hundred bucks on something in black and white; you’d prefer to go with a cheap tablet for reading than to spend the extra money on the Kindle lineup’s paper displays; you’d prefer an e-reader with a smaller or larger screen.

The Amazon Kindle Colorsoft is a solid color e-reader, featuring a 7-inch color display, an IPX8 waterproof rating, wireless and USB-C charging, and a battery life of up to eight weeks. The display is 150 ppi in color, 300 ppi in black and white, and it also offers a 16-level gray scale brightness. At its normal price point, the Colorsoft might feel a little pricey for those who aren’t really sure if they’ll want a color display, though the $200 price tag definitely seems a little more appealing.

While the retailer also offers a “Signature Edition” Colorsoft model with more storage and a few other improved features, this deal is for the non-ad-supported edition with 16GB of onboard storage. Nevertheless, it’s a pretty good price on the regular edition, whether you’re a first-time e-reader buyer or you’re looking to upgrade from an economy-level model.
