Apple has released two new iPhone software updates today. Alongside the launch of iOS 26.2, the company shipped iOS 18.7.3 for users who haven’t yet upgraded to iOS 26.
iOS 18.7.3 launches with ‘important security fixes’ that are recommended for all
Just recently, Apple started making iOS 26.1 the default update for iPhone users. That means when visiting the Software Update screen inside Settings, iOS 26 is the software version most prominently featured.
But users still have the option of remaining on iOS 18, and for those who choose to do so, Apple has a new update out today.
iOS 18.7.3 is now available for iPhone, alongside iPadOS 18.7.3 for iPad. Here are the release notes:
This update provides important security fixes and is recommended for all users.

As of the time this article is published, the specific security fixes have not yet been added to Apple’s security notes website. However, they should be available there very soon.
Since Apple’s release notes mention no other changes, it’s likely that iOS 18 users won’t notice anything else different in this update. However, it’s still recommended for immediate installation to gain the security benefits.
Typically when Apple discovers security vulnerabilities and patches them, fixes are shipped not only in the latest OS version but also the prior year’s update. That’s exactly what happened with iOS 18.7.2 last month, and now the same pattern has extended to iOS 18.7.3.
Are you still running iOS 18 on your iPhone? What’s keeping you from upgrading to iOS 26? Let us know in the comments.
