Apple releases iOS 26.0.1 for iPhone, here’s what’s new

iOS 26.0.1 is the first bug fix update for Apple’s new software

Two weeks ago, Apple launched iOS 26 to the public. Many users may have opted to install iOS 18.7 instead, in an effort to avoid bugs that typically come with major launches.

Today, Apple has released the first bug fix update for iOS 26.

iOS 26.0.1 is now available and recommended for all users.

Here are Apple’s official release notes:

This update provides important bug fixes and security updates for your iPhone, including fixes for the following issues:

• Wi-Fi and Bluetooth may occasionally disconnect on iPhone 17, iPhone Air, and iPhone 17 Pro models
• A small number of iPhone users may be unable to connect to a cellular network after updating to iOS 26
• Photos taken under certain lighting conditions with iPhone 17, iPhone Air, and iPhone 17 Pro models may include unexpected artifacts
• App icons may appear blank after adding a custom tint
• VoiceOver may become disabled for some users after updating to iOS 26

Even though iOS 26 was in beta testing with developers and the public for several months before its release earlier this month, it’s very normal for Apple to discover new bugs and implement fixes shortly after the public launch.

Simply put, having a much larger user install base provides more data around issues that need to be fixed.

Additionally, major new versions of iOS always launch right around the time new iPhones debut. And in this case, the number of people who could test iOS 26 on an iPhone 17, iPhone 17 Pro, or iPhone Air has been extremely limited until very recently.

All of this is to say: iOS 26.0.1 is the first bug fix for iOS 26 but it won’t be the last. Don’t be surprised if Apple releases 26.0.2 and possibly even 26.0.3 in the weeks ahead.
