Apple trade-in values cut for iPhone, iPad, Mac, and Apple Watch

Apple trade-in values have been cut for most models of iPhone, all Macs, several Apple Watches, and one iPad.

While Apple trade-ins represent very poor value compared to selling privately or using third-party resellers, some people prefer the ease and convenience of just taking their old device into an Apple Store when buying a new one.

MacRumors posted comparison tables of old and new values, and while the differences are relatively small, all of last year’s iPhone models are now worth less than they were:

• iPhone 15 Pro Max: $600 (from $630)
• iPhone 15 Pro: $480 (from $500)
• iPhone 15 Plus: $430 (from $440)
• iPhone 15: $380 (from $400)

Note that all values are the maximum Apple will offset, based on a fully-functional device in good cosmetic condition.

Many older iPhones have also had their trade-in values cut, alongside the iPad Air, Apple Watch Ultra (both 1 and 2) and Apple Watch Series 5. All Macs are now worth less, with the Mac Studio taking the biggest hit – down from $1,140 to $990.

There’s a tiny bit of good news in the mix, with the iPhone 14 Pro Max and base model iPad now worth a little more.

Two products are no longer accepted for trade-in at all: the 12-inch MacBook, and Apple Watch Series 4.
