Sports Central isn’t just a part of DIRECTV on TVs anymore. This week, DIRECTV updated its iPhone and iPad app with an overhaul that brings the live sports hub feature to iOS.
DIRECTV announced the app update in a blog post today:
DIRECTV’s Sports Central has long been available on DIRECTV devices as a built-in hub for finding and managing live sports. Now, it’s also available on the DIRECTV app! The update is available immediately for iOS devices; simply open the App Store and tap Update.
The company highlights six key features with Sports Central on iPhone and iPad:
- Find live games currently airing across DIRECTV channels
- Browse upcoming schedules so you always know what’s coming next
- Explore league, matchup and team pages for additional game details
- Record games airing on DIRECTV channels, including specific matchups or favorite teams
- Favorite teams so their games and updates appear front and center
- Access games from streaming apps (like YouTube, Prime Video, ESPN Select and Peacock) alongside DIRECTV channels. Separate subscriptions may be required.
After updating to the latest version of the app, DIRECTV subscribers can tap the “Sports” icon from the navigation bar to start using Sports Central on iPhone and iPad.
DIRECTV announced new multiview March Madness Mix configurations for watching multiple games on a single screen as well.
Lastly, the company is also running a promotion through April 23 that includes its Sports Pack offering free for one month through its CHOICE package for $59.99/month.
