Insta360 jumps on the rear iPhone screen trend with its new Snap monitor

Insta360, named for its panoramic action camera, is the latest company to jump on the magnetic selfie screen for iPhone trend.

Snap is a 3.5-inch, 4K touchscreen monitor for your iPhone

Last month, my colleague Fernando Silva opened my eyes to the world of rear touchscreen iPhone cases. The purpose? Mostly using the highest-quality camera on your iPhone to take selfies. Fair enough.

What I didn’t realize is that this is apparently becoming a trend now. The Selfix iPhone case as a one-off accessory is one thing, but Insta360 is a brand with weight behind it. Apple sells Insta360 action cameras and gimbals, for example.

That makes me look at the Insta360 Snap Selfie Screen a little more closely than I might otherwise. Also, it’s a standalone accessory and not a case.

Insta360 Snap comes in two flavors: one for $79.99 without a light, and one for $10 more that includes an adjustable light.

These are the key Insta360 Snap features:

  • Preview your shots in real time while using your phone’s superior rear camera.
  • The 3.5-inch high-res touchscreen gives you total control of your phone with screen mirroring to frame your shots perfectly every time.
  • Plug in and play, no charging required. Shoot in 4K with instant preview for a true “what you see is what you get” experience.
  • (Light edition) Co-developed with beauty-tech experts AMIRO, it offers 3 colors and 5 brightness levels for a glowing complexion, even in low light.
  • Premium cover that protects the screen from scratches during storage and also secures the cable when not in use.
  • Works seamlessly with your favorite third-party camera apps for flexible shooting and editing.
  • Designed for both iPhone and Android phones with a USB-C connection. Please refer to the compatibility list below for supported models.

Who knows? Maybe we’ll see these in Apple stores eventually.

Either way, we’ve reached the point in the timeline where we have magnetic screens the size of the original iPhone attached to the back … just because it’s possible.

Insta360 Snap is available to order from Insta360 and Amazon now.
