iOS 26.3.1 could launch soon as the next iPhone update

Apple is currently beta testing iOS 26.4 as its next major iPhone update, but per 9to5Mac’s visitor logs, it appears there’s a smaller software release launching first: iOS 26.3.1 is coming soon.

iOS 26.3.1 is being tested at Apple ahead of public release

Earlier this month, iOS 26.3 debuted with a focus on bug fixes and security updates. It included handful of new features for users too.

Now it seems Apple has even more bug fixes and optimizations coming soon.

iOS 26.3.1 is being run by devices that have visited 9to5Mac recently, confirming it’s in active development within Apple.

Typically when we see evidence of a minor new iOS build in internal visitor logs, the update ships within a week or two.

For example, last month on January 12 we found evidence of iOS 26.2.1’s existence, and it shipped two weeks later on January 26 with AirTag 2 support and bug fixes.

Considering that we’re expecting new products to launch next week, including a brand new iPhone, it’s possible we’ll see iOS 26.3.1 debut around the same time.

Just as iOS 26.2.1 added support for AirTag 2, perhaps iOS 26.3.1 will do the same for the iPhone 17e. Compatibility with new devices, along with the usual bug fixes and security improvements, sounds about right for a minor update.

We’ll keep you posted on iOS 26.3.1’s details when the update goes live.

How has iOS 26.3 been running for you so far? Let us know in the comments.
