This fall’s most popular new iPhones will likely be the iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max, but if you want the absolute biggest battery, it sounds like the iPhone Fold will easily be the winner there.
iPhone Fold rumored to have 5500 mAh battery or higher
Last fall, a rumor said that Apple was testing batteries for the iPhone Fold that were larger than what any previous iPhone offered.
Now, Weibo leaker Fixed Focus Digital has posted corroboration of that report along with a more up-to-date battery size.
His post says that the iPhone Fold will get a 5500 mAh battery—or even larger.
This is a bit higher than what the previous rumor anticipated, as 5400 mAh was the leaked starting range at the time.
It’s noteworthy that the leaker said the battery capacity will be 5500+ mAh, so that’s only the floor for the new foldable.
How does that compare with existing iPhones? It’s a lot higher.
eSIM-only models of the iPhone 17 line have the following battery capacities:
- iPhone 17: 3692 mAh
- iPhone Air: 3149 mAh
- iPhone 17 Pro: 4252 mAh
- iPhone 17 Pro Max: 5088 mAh
So the top current model, iPhone 17 Pro Max, is just over 5000 mAh. And the iPhone Fold is expected to be around 10% higher or more.
We don’t yet know what kind of battery drain the foldable’s overall larger display will have. But it seems likely that the iPhone Fold will be able to at least be in competition with iPhone 18 Pro models for best battery life.
