MacBook Neo leaks as name for low-cost model powered by iPhone chip

Apple is expected to announce an all-new, low-cost MacBook as soon as tomorrow, and MacBook Neo may be the official product name.

MacBook Neo would be an all-new name for an all-new laptop

MacRumors first reported that a regulatory document referring to an unreleased “MacBook Neo (Model A3404)” was accidentally leaked by Apple. The document appears to no longer be online.

The name would communicate that the first MacBook powered by an iPhone chip is something lighter-powered than the MacBook Air. Apple has previously used the name “MacBook” as well, but MacBook Neo would signal something new altogether.

(Coincidentally, Apple already released a new product with the “Neo” name this week. The new Hermès Néo Tricot Apple Watch band arrived Monday. It costs $349, which is probably about half the cost of the expected MacBook Neo.)

When will Apple announce MacBook Neo?

Apple is set to hold an in-person media “experience” tomorrow at 9 am ET. 9to5Mac will be in attendance. That’s likely when Apple will unveil the rumored A18 Pro-powered MacBook Neo.

So far this week, Apple has announced new products at 9 am ET on Monday and Tuesday. These include the iPhone 17e, M4 iPad Air, M5 MacBook Air, M5 Pro/Max chips, M5 Pro/Max MacBook Pro, new Apple Studio Display, and the Studio Display XDR.
