I love cases and accessories that look great but also serve multiple functions. Whether it’s a case with a built-in kick stand or a MagSafe battery that doubles as a charger for multiple devices, I am always looking for gear that solves more than one problem. So when I saw the new Selfix case i knew I had to try it out because of just how much it can do. It is a case and storage expander that adds a display on the rear, which acts as a viewfinder when taking selfies with the main camera. Here is what you should know about it.

There is a lot going on with this case, but what I like is that it’s extremely easy to use. There is no app, no new login, you just put the case on, and it just works. You are getting a built-in rear-facing display, a microSD card slot, and a protective case, all while holding onto MagSafe as well. Here are the specs:
- 1.6in circular AMOLED display
- 480 x 480 resolution
- Touch enabled
- Expandable storage via microSD card up to 2TB
- Supports UHS-I, Class 10, U3, V30
- USB-C port that supports PD 3.0 and 45W inputs
- Dedicated physical button for power
- TPU case construction with soft rubber finish

The standout features here are the rear display and the ability to expand your storage. When I first got this case, I had no idea that there would be expandable storage, so that was a nice surprise. But they also thought of all the creature comforts, like still being able to fast charge the iPhone, and keeping support for MagSafe accessories. But how is it in practice?
My experience
So the main use case is obvious; it’s made so you can use the 48MP rear cameras for selfies. Even though the iPhone 17 Pro selfie camera is great, you can’t compete with just how good that rear iPhone sensor is. So the Selfix case allows you to take high-quality photos and videos while still being able to see everything. Another awesome feature is that the rear display is touch screen! You need to turn on Assistive Touch from your accessibility settings for this to work, but man, it works so well. I can zoom in and out on the rear display and tap to focus. Amazing implementation.
Another great use case for me as a creator was that the rear display can be used as a viewfinder with not only the native camera app, but with any other camera app as well. So I can use my BlackMagic Camera app to record video, control all camera settings from the rear display, and, since there is expandable storage, direct the video to the microSD card instead of taking up space on my iPhone.

Another nice cherry on top is that even though the USB-C port on the iPhone is taken up by the case, they have added USB-C port on the case, so you can still plug in and charge your iPhone. It supports up to 45W of PD power. They also decided to keep the MagSAfe magnets. So you can use all of your MagSafe accessories very easily. Of course, it will cover up the display when you have something like a MagSafe wallet on there, but still cool, they kept that function.
How this works
The way this works is actually very simple but genius. The case is plugged into the bottom of the iPhone. So you will see that it has a USB-C end on the insane of the case. You just slide your phone into the case, and it begins to work. There is an additional button on the case below the volume rocker that acts as your on/off button. You simply turn it on, and it actually mirrors your display. It’s meant to be used as a viewfinder with camera apps, but technically, you can see anything on your iPhone screen. So you can view video, see your homescreen, and still interact with it since it is touch-enabled (as long as Assistive Touch is on).

Pricing and availability
The Selfix case is on Kickstarter. It is currently available only for the iPhone 17 Pro and the larger iPhone 17 Pro Max, and comes in three colors: Pink, White, and Black. They have a few bundles and early pricing options, but the best (and currently available) price starts at just $79. Apple’s regular iPhone cases are $69. So the fact that this has a display and expandable storage for just $10 more is wild to me. There is also a bundle that starts at $109 that brings the case, a cross-body strap, and a magnetic ring holder. Deliveries of the Selfix case will ship in May 2026!
Final thoughts
It’s cool to see brands try new things and innovate in a space that tends to stay a bit stagnant and repetitive. The case has worked great for me over the last two weeks of using it. It does not add much bulk at all; it’s comfortable to hold in the hand and adds immediate value in so many ways. It can be used personally to take higher-quality selfies or to enhance a creator’s workflow by reducing the friction of using the main camera on your iPhone. I think the best compliment this got was that my wife stopped me when she saw the case and wanted to use it on her phone; that is rarer and rarer these days.
What do you think? Is this something you would use? Is $79 a fair price? Let’s discuss below!
