The New Year is swiftly approaching, and if you’re anything like me, your 2026 resolutions include getting back to a regular reading habit. Fortunately, Best Buy’s holiday sale is here with $140 off the 2024 Kindle Scribe, a versatile last-gen tablet with a large glare-free display and instant access to millions of titles in the Kindle Store.
Obviously, the first thing you’ll notice is that the Scribe isn’t just an e-reader. The device is also designed to be a convenient e-ink tablet for taking notes and marking up documents, utilizing a stylus pen (included with your purchase) and a bunch of handy AI tools to help you stay organized.
To be clear, this discount is NOT for the updated 2025 Kindle Scribe. This historic price drop is only available on the 2024 model. If you’d rather spend 500 bucks on the latest model, Amazon is currently offering some trade-in credit (although it won’t arrive by Christmas).
Should I buy the Amazon Kindle Scribe?
Whether you’re a reader, artist, or compulsive notetaker, the 2024 Kindle Scribe is a great device for getting things done. You get a 10.2-inch 300ppi glare-free display with an included stylus that works straight out of the box, plus weeks of battery life depending on usage. The notetaking function itself feels almost indistinguishable from pen on paper, and you even get a collapsing “eraser” on the end of the stylus.
Another major selling point of the Kindle Scribe (2024) is its AI features. These tools can be used to convert messy handwriting into something more readable, or you can customize the length and tone of your notes to make them feel a bit more refined.
Should I buy the 2024 model or the new Kindle Scribe (2025)?
This historic discount on the 2024 Kindle Scribe is probably happening because the tablet has been officially supplanted by a newer model. While the Kindle Scribe (2025) does have some significant upgrades over its predecessor — the display is larger and more lightweight, for instance — I’m not sure it’s worth the $500 price tag.
For over $200 less, you can get the 2024 tablet and enjoy a very similar experience, especially if you simply want a device for reading and casual note-taking. If, on the other hand, you really want to drop 500 bucks on a tablet, I’d skip the Kindles altogether and go for something more comprehensive, like the OnePlus Pad 3.
