TL;DR

  • The OnePlus 15R features a Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 SoC, a 165Hz AMOLED screen, and a 7,400mAh battery.
  • It lacks a telephoto camera and LTPO display but adds IP69K ratings and an ultrasonic fingerprint sensor.
  • Pricing starts at $699.99 with pre-orders beginning today and open sales beginning January 8, 2026.

OnePlus is launching not one, but two pairs of flagships this year. At the start of the year, the much-acclaimed OnePlus 13 and OnePlus 13R were launched, but a few weeks ago, the less-acclaimed OnePlus 15 was also introduced. Rounding up the year is the new OnePlus 15R, which is now available globally alongside the OnePlus Pad Go 2.

Like previous OnePlus “R” flagships, the OnePlus 15R sits below the OnePlus 15, but it tactfully borrows some of its key highlights and brings them down to a more palatable price point.

The highlight of the OnePlus 15R is the new 165Hz AMOLED LTPS screen (2,800 x 1,272 in resolution) with 1,800 nits global peak brightness. This is similar to the OnePlus 15’s display, as it supports 165Hz and 144Hz refresh rates in certain listed games. However, this display goes down only until 60Hz as it is not an LTPO display, so that’s something to note.

Another highlight is the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 SoC, which offers a great balance of performance and value, backed by a proven track record. Coupled with the beefy 7,400mAh battery (lower than the Chinese variant’s 8,300mAh), the OnePlus 15R appears promising for anyone seeking a phone with great battery life.

The OnePlus 15R also supports 80W SuperVOOC, though you’ll need the new 100W Dual Port GaN Power Adapter Lite (not currently available in the US). There’s still a charger in the box, which will give you decent 55W charging speeds in the US, so you don’t have to bother with the newer charger if you don’t need the few minutes of charging time savings.

The OnePlus 15R also sports key upgrades to its IP rating, now coming in with IP66/68/69/69K ratings for comprehensive protection against high temperature, high-pressure water jets, as well as submersion. OnePlus has also upgraded to an ultrasonic fingerprint sensor this season. Of course, you also get Oxygen OS 16 based on Android 16 right out of the box, and OnePlus promises four years of Android upgrades and six years of security upgrades with the phone.

Not everything is an upgrade, though. Key omissions on the OnePlus 15R compared to its predecessor are the absence of a rear telephoto camera and the lack of LTPO display technology for 1Hz refresh rates.

All about that battery

The OnePlus 15R is OnePlus’s latest sub-flagship offering, featuring a giant 7,400mAh battery and a 165Hz refresh rate display at a more affordable price than the flagship OnePlus 15.

If you pre-order from OnePlus.com, you’ll receive a guaranteed $50 instant credit for trading in any phone in any condition, as well as a $50 cashback bonus with trade-in. You can also choose from the OnePlus Buds 4 or a OnePlus phone case if you’re buying the 256GB variant, though 512GB variant buyers get both — though, be warned that this is limited stock, so free gifts are available on a first-come, first-served basis.
