This fall, Apple’s first foldable iPhone is expected to be unveiled. But corroborating a recent report, Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman said today there is “no doubt” the iPhone Fold will ship a bit later than the iPhone 18 Pro.
iPhone Fold to ship ‘a little bit later’ than other models, per Gurman
Today Mark Gurman at Bloomberg hosted a live Q&A in which he answered a variety of Apple-related questions.
You can find the full recording here on Bloomberg’s website.
At one point Gurman was asked about the iPhone Fold’s expected launch timeline.
Last week, a Barclays analyst claimed the foldable might not launch until December. Previous expectations were for a September ship date, shortly after the expected unveiling.
Here’s what Gurman said today:
Foldable phones are very difficult to produce. That display technology is some of the most complex display technology available on the market today. And so there is no doubt that this is going to come a little bit later than the Pro phones. […]
Whenever Apple does a major new form factor design, something specifically that’s pretty complex as we saw with the iPhone X back a decade ago, you’re going to be a little bit delayed past the other models.
Although Gurman didn’t get into specific launch timing, it sounds like he doesn’t believe the launch will be delayed very long past iPhone 18 Pro.
Apple is still expected to introduce the iPhone Fold in September alongside iPhone 18 Pro. But like with the iPhone X, and select other models over the years, it sounds like the shipping date for the foldable could slip into October, November, or possibly even December.
